> Russians even can glue -ka -ke at the end of all their words. Would be fun.

There are even more "little" forms, like -ek, -enk/-echk, -ul etc.

Voda -> vodka -> vodochka (voda->vodka is wrong usage though, they are different words). Or kartofel (potato) -> karthoska -> karthoshechka.

Sometimes word has no "big" form but only "little", but it is rare. Also sometimes some words, especially foreign, have that suffixes from start, so they feel "little" and funny.

>>22716
>yeah diminutive, we commonly use -cık, -cik

Hmm, yes, it also can be used in Russian, but it is slightly different than short form of names (although related).

There are "common" short forms, like Alexander -> Sasha, or Vladimir -> Volodya -> Vova, Nadezhda -> Nadya. That form doesn't imply any real softness, i.e. you can call Vladimir as Volodya almost in every setting, except in very official.

There is also a that "small" form as I wrote before, when you "soften" or "belittle" the word. This is more versatile thing, Mehmet can be called Mehmetik (best soft form I guess, but sounds as "small Mehmet"), Mehmetenka (already sounds fun because that suffix is good only for Slavic names), Mehmetochka etc, but that usage is very informal. Maybe in family relationship it could be used often, but not in common speech.

That's what I meant when you guys don't see fun in it. I bet a Spanish would say the same about guerra and guerrilla.
But I can imagine: men knew water long time ago but didn't know spirits until fairly recently. Then they figured out how to distill some from grain or potato or rugs. Then they sit there drank and contemplated how they should call that water clear fluid that is so dear to their hearts. Then, haha...

I would atleast some shit like meyushka exist or misha but I guess we'll have it in future thanks to kadyrov :DDD nod really

Our dimunitive is usually only for referring children or showing affection to something little or outright belitteing, mocking.

why e becomes fancy e? how do we read it again?

>why e becomes fancy e?
In that case the last vowel becomes elongated. Might be because -cska, -cske also can be -acska, -ecske. When a word ends with consonant a vowel needs to be added in between since there are too many consonants already.
However I think if a name ends with consonant we would just add -ka, -ke:
Adél -> Adélka/Adélke (for me the previous sounds better, but I think the latter is right too, this comes from the problem that Adél doesn't have vowel harmony)
I tried to think of other names with other vowels at the end, but couldn't think of any, so I checked and I don't believe we have names ending with: o, u and ü; only with i, but even those - while they can be registered they are also a form a diminutive.
E.g. Cili (from Cecilia I think) -> Cilikécske
So it gets not just a -cske, but -kécske, since the correct order would be:
Cili -> Cilike (this is already diminutive) -> Cilikécske.
Cilicske sounds weird.
Why not Cilícske? That would be the logical no? Beats me.
But back to Adél. If I would really want to glue -cska/-cske at the end, I would do:
Adélocska
Some might give you better explanations. I can't. I'm sure we learnt about this in primary- and high-school but don't think we went into the question "why?".

>how do we read it again?
Like the 'a' in bay. Okay?

Yeah, that still sounds strict. As far as I know on the Hungary one need approval of the police to get a license to buy guns, but don't need to give any explanation, just register the freshly bought gun. I think the real strict stuff we have is the regulation of bullets, which I dunno nothing, just heard of it some time ago.

Major happenings in Venezuela. Since the opposition and other countries have deemed Maduro's new mandate illegitimate, Juan Guaidó, head of the National Assembly, has just declared himself President. America, the Organization of American States and the Lima Group (Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and several other New World states) have formally recognized him. Mexico, Bolivia, Cuba, Russia and Turkey have maintained their recognition of the Bolivarian government. Massive street demonstrations are demanding Maduro to step down. In turn, Maduro called the maneuver a coup, broke diplomatic relations with America and sent the National Guard to crack down on protesters.
This may develop into an Arab Spring situation, but my intuition tells me there's an equal or greater chance of the protests just getting supressed and this new government getting exiled/arrested. A new crisis of this kind would then inevitably happen again down the line.
Maduro's survival strategy seems to be repressing the opposition with brute force (hence why he created paramilitaries and bribed the army by letting it control the food supply) until enough time passes for oil prices to rise. His model of rulership consists of little more than using profits from commodity exports to enrich himself and buy the loyalty of the masses through self-destructive populism, and he has shown no signs of wanting to change this approach. This leaves the strategy I've outlined as the only one he can follow.
But his enemies are also counting on time, and bet on the system's decay reaching a point where Maduro is incapable of keeping power by force. And they have extensive foreign support -America has always been hostile and the "reverse Pink Tide" of the 2010s has unseated most of Venezuela's Latin American allies, leaving it an international pariah. If Maduro survives the following days, he is likely to face a new round of sanctions.

Role Playing Games Bernd 12/17/2017 (Sun) 20:40:33 [Preview] No. 12621 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
I want to begin a new series about a Hungarian pen and paper role playing game I've already mentioned in other thread(s). It's called M.A.G.U.S. - Kalandorok Krónikái (Chronicles of Adventurers) and I wish to guide you through it's history, world and maybe even rules. Frankly I'm not well prepared and most likely not the best person for the job, but, well, I'm the only one here and this is the best it's gonna get.
IRL talking with a real M.A.G.U.S. fan about M.A.G.U.S. is a real herculean challange as they can be extremely assburgerish about insignificant details, they can cite some careless comment from an obscure magazine's unknown article anytime and consider it rock solid canon they can base their opinion. It's worse to play it with an experienced fanatic as they are capable arguing to the point of the knife with the Kalandmester or Mesélő (Adventure Master or Tale Teller/Story-Teller, the DM, it's KM from no on) even if everyone knows the First Rule: the KM is always right.

Of course any other rpg can be discussed here, but I'd like to keep this thread for pnp or tabletop rpgs, crpgs should go into the Vidya thread.

The Nagy Zöld (Big Green). Well this is the real first rulebook, published in 1993. The rules were written for a few years (I saw some parts in a mag from 1991) still it was full of errors, fuck ups and inconsistencies some of them haunt even in current year and will haunt probably forever. Never read it btw.
>3rd pic
Második Törvénykönyv (Second Code of Law) published in 1995 so even this predates the ETK... This one... I don't think it is more than some shitty addendum, even the foreword states every rule in this book is optional.

The continent of Ynev. I've no idea how to pronounce it so I call it Inev. The world itself is called Satriale... no, Satralis it has two other continents noone cares about only some vague shit were written about them and are unplayable by default. I think the ETK not even mentions the planet or operates on the supposition that Ynev is the name of the world. In following posts you will meet names very typical fantasy worlds. Lots of them were borrowed from IRL or other fantasy resources so prepare some familiar sounding stuff.

Oh I forgot. It's just a typical medieval fantasy world, with elves, dwarves and orcs. Luckily I don't know anything about gay-ass halflings.

Fun fact: on the Hungary we call this game amoeba as the game. When we play it on paper, we usually outline each matches to separate them from others - since one paper can hold many matches -, which emphasizes an amoeba look as it usually drawn sloppy with rounded corners and such.

No, they didnt make me eat head.

What I think is, nowadays the general idea of grooming(?) kids is flawed due to static behaviour. We expected to treat them as the most unique and best creatures in thhe world or some families just don't care and let kids do their thing which is rarely good thing. Anyway because of former behaviour I mention, kids think they're entitled to everything by birthright which is wrong, their actions should have consequences be it good or bad. But I think treating your kids that way just because they're kids and didnt do anything bad, is also bad. Rewarding the good, punishing the bad is more or less working behavior pattern, idk why people just started to see it more allien everyday.

Also, as I mention such bad behavior also have consequences, kids are guaranteed to be bydlo or bydlo like people when they grown up, you know all their anger towards the world not gonna go away so easily.

I had a very weird dream last night. Actually it was right before I woke up, so it was in the morning. And I dream several things a night.
So now I don't remember the beginning but me and another dude, we went to a pub I guess we were in some organization or another because we attacked that cultural institution, threw a molotov in there or something like this, and then three guys came out, I think they were chinks and gave us an object reminded me plasticine. It was a small brick I could pocket, and I did - but it felt I shouldn't have done that, then we went.
I told the dude that we should go back via the same route we came but we did, and it was through some kind of station but didn't see any vehicles. Then I stepped through an automatic door which closed behind me but before the dude could step through. So I left alone. But I was at a whole different place, it was like some docks, also it was dark, maybe night, but maybe it was an underground complex (if it was than it was huge). So there was water and walkways and structures, everyhing seemed to be black or dark blue. Some headlights were here and there and I moved from the point where I arrived, there was no doorway there anyway.
I knew they are searching for me so I tried not to waste time and looked for some exit also some stuff I could use to my advantage. Then at a smallish building I found an open door. The room behind that was empty but another door opened to another room.
It was a bedroom and on a bed a man slept among bunch of pillows. The guy's skin was light blue color and looked like Yoda. So I shoved a shotgun into his face and shot him from point-blank range. I dunno what kind of shell was in the chamber but it did nothing, so I repeated but couldn't harm. He started to wake up, and spoke to me jokingly but with malice. So I shot him again and again without result.
Then I woke up.

My dream two days ago also was very weird. But I remember only very vaguely now.

NEW canada Food Guide Bernd 01/22/2019 (Tue) 17:36:27 [Preview] No. 22604 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
No more food categories!

The Food Guide now directs people to whole foods, and has done away with recommending a certain number of daily food-group servings to meet nutrient needs (e.g., calcium from dairy, iron from meat).

Eating the right foods instead of fussing over individual nutrients is the way to go, because if you base your diet on whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and lentils, fish, lean meat, yogurt and so on, you’re going to be consuming plenty of nutrients.

Since 2007, nutrition research has taught us that it’s the overall pattern of our diet that matters when it comes to health.

No more focus on meat. The decision to replace nutrient-based food groups with groupings of foods (e.g., protein foods versus “Meat and Alternatives”) has removed the emphasis on meat.

Lean meat is included as one of the guide’s protein foods (along with fish, eggs, dairy, beans, lentils and nuts), but it’s no longer the main attraction. And that’s a good thing.

High intakes of red meat have been tied to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and colorectal cancer. Eating more protein from plants compared to meat, on the other hand, has been associated with a lower risk of premature death from cardiovascular disease.

Downsizing the importance of meat in the diet also reflects findings from environmental research on optimal food choices.

One problem is the over-commercialization of the net. Everything is business now, or everyone wants to make money out of his site, not just cover the cost but make profit. With minimum work. Why write an interesting article with original research when you can just copypaste shit from Wikipedia? Why give honest, informative opinion on stuff when you can shill products and services? Why make a fast loading, aestethic site when you can just plaster everything with ads? Etc etc.

There may be a natural tendency for monopolies in social media. Keins who join exclusively for small talk with their family and friends will enter the site where those people already are, which is most likely the largest social media company. And people/institutions seeking the widest possible audience, from advertisers to attention whores, will always go for the largest site. Furthermore, these effects are self-reinforcing. This allowed previously small social media sites with the tiniest advantages over their competitors to grow exponentially and carve massive empires for themselves.
